Cleaning Checklist
Inspections & final clean
Use this cleaning checklist for your regular routine inspections and for your final clean before vacating the rental. At the end of your tenancy, we will carry out a final inspection. Outside of fair wear and tear, this is to ensure the property is left in the same condition it was in when your tenancy first began.
If there are any damages and repair work that needs to be done, we will organize this between yourself and the landlord.
General
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floor surface as applicable
- Remove any cobwebs
- Wipe down all skirting boards
- Clean dust and flies from light fittings
- Clean any marks from walls or ceilings
- Clean hand marks from doors and switches
- Wipe down all window sills and door frames to remove mould and dirt
Kitchen
- Clean the benchtop and floor surfaces
- Wipe the insides of all cupboards
- Clean any cooking stains from walls & ceilings
- Clean any marks on cupboard doors and shelves
- Remove and clean extraction filters
- Remove all food from the pantry and wipe surfaces
- Clean the stove, including elements on the oven, and remove baked-on food from oven racks
Bathroom
- Clean vanity and toilet
- Remove any mould on walls, ceilings and surfaces
- Remove the shower drain trap and clean
- Remove dust from vents and fans, including tumble dryers vents
- Clean the shower, doors, curtains, and shower linings. For showers with doors, please remember to clean the bottom door tracks
- Clean mirrors and baths if present
Cleaning tip
As a final step when moving out, a carpet cleaner or hiring a professional carpet cleaner should be used to refreshen carpets. By doing this last, there is adequate time for the carpet to dry while avoiding soiled carpet from other cleaning.
Garage
- Remove oil stains from concrete
- If there is a carport, remove any rubbish or other debris
- Remove stains immediately when they appear. If the stain remains, please contact your property manager for assistance
Remember to
- Contact utility providers and arrange for final readings of all services held in your name
- Arrange redirection of mail
- Arrange for the return of keys
Outdoors
- Ensure the grass is mown and the garden is tidy if part of your tenancy agreement
- Remove all rubbish
